Exact Path is an adaptive assessment, which means that it responds to learners' answers to pinpoint levels. 

 

So if your child is getting difficult questions, it means they've probably been getting answers correct!

 

It's important to tell your child(ren) that there will be some challenging questions (things they've never even seen before!) and some easy questions. 

They are SUPPOSED to get about 50% correct and 50% incorrect.   

 

Tell them not to stress, just to try their best and guess if they don't know something. It is just a program to tell you what they know and don't know!

Also, please remember that the FL DOE simply has the requirement of taking the assessment and uploading the results at this time, so it is not high stakes testing; it is not a pass/fail test and your funding will not be affected.

End-of-year assessments for PEP must be norm-referenced, which means your child(ren) will be compared with their peers across the nation, but it's more important for you as a home educator to use the results as a diagnostic tool to better tailor instruction and as measurement of growth. 

​

 

 

It is also a good opportunity for young people to get familiar & confident with testing without high stakes pressure, as testing is usually necessary at some point for academic and career goals. 

​

 

 

There is no time limit, but you should plan to complete all the testing within 3-5 days.  Choose the best time and place for your family, when your child(ren) are well-rested, fed, and best able to focus. 

 

Breaks are highly encouraged.
